This week I have spent my time learning about mindfulness and self compassion. It is crazy to think that we as humans sometimes forget to put ourselves first. We become so focused on getting things done, or being somewhere on time, that we don’t become present. We live in a constant world, especially with such extreme advances in technology compared to years ago.
Personally, I have put my attention on growing my business that I don’t know when to stop. I start from the moment I open my eyes to the moment I close them. It is honestly a never ending cycle. I love everything I do but I forget that there is a whole world out there to experience and live.
I get caught up in my fear of losing or failing that I have this need to continue to figure out how to keep growing. The problem here is I start to judge myself. I become critical in my ways. I tell myself things I shouldn’t or I hold onto mistakes I’ve made. We are human and we make mistakes. No one is perfect. But the problem behind this is judgement. When I would make mistakes in my work, especially for client, I would beat myself up for it. It would haunt me and make me so afraid to continue to keep going. This only left me feeling negative and upset that I would push my emotions away so not to feel them and continue on. I have the worst habit of bottling things up.
What I have been learning and continue to learn is self compassion and mindfulness. Self compassion defined by Google is “extending compassion to one’s self in instances of perceived inadequacy, failure, or general suffering.”
Mindfulness is defined by Google as: “a mental state achieved by focusing one’s awareness on the present moment, while calmly acknowledging and accepting one’s feelings, thoughts, and bodily sensations, used as a therapeutic technique.”
Learning to love yourself for who you are and putting the judgement aside will only create a more positive healthier you. Start to understand your self and your emotions. Allow yourself to feel, learn, and let go of any negativity you put upon yourself. Move forward because you have all the power and strength you need within you. You just have to find it.
